In a global first for commercial free-to-air television news, Network 10 today announced its flagship current affairs program 10 NEWS+ will now be available ad-free on Spotify from Monday, 30 June, in both video and audio podcast formats.
The move marks a major step in broadening access to quality journalism, as 10 NEWS+ expands beyond its traditional broadcast and streaming homes on 10 and 10 Play. The new Spotify partnership is designed to meet shifting audience habits, offering deeper insights, long-form investigations, and on-demand accessibility in a mobile-first world.
A premium companion to Network 10’s trusted 5pm local bulletins, 10 NEWS+ goes to air at 6pm Sunday to Friday. The program is anchored by investigative journalist Denham Hitchcock and Walkley Award-winner Amelia Brace, with Ursula Heger and Hugh Riminton leading Friday editions.
Head of Digital News & Strategy at Network 10, Rashell Habib, said the partnership reflects the growing demand for trusted news on non-traditional platforms.
“The need for trusted news has never been greater, but audiences today are more fragmented than ever. The rise of news-focused podcasts clearly indicates a shift in consumption. This Spotify partnership ensures we meet audiences where they already are.”
Spotify’s Head of Podcasts for Australia and New Zealand, Prithi Dey, said the deal reflects Spotify’s commitment to delivering flexible, format-agnostic news experiences.
“Audiences want the flexibility of video podcasts — even diehard audio fans appreciate switching seamlessly between formats. This partnership with Network 10 delivers just that, expanding access to quality journalism in the format that suits listeners best.”
With Spotify offering a seamless, ad-free experience for Premium users, the collaboration represents a significant innovation in Australian news delivery — one that promises to redefine how viewers consume current affairs content.
10 NEWS+ premieres Monday, 30 June at 6pm on 10, 10 Play, and now, Spotify.
