Get ready for a double dose of true crime intrigue — next week, Three and ThreeNow are dropping two highly anticipated documentaries that are sure to get people talking.

First up is Murder by Mushroom, premiering Monday, 14 July at 8.30pm on Three. The doco takes viewers inside the jaw-dropping case of Erin Patterson, the Australian woman who was this week found guilty after three people died and a fourth became seriously ill following a beef wellington lunch laced with deadly death cap mushrooms.

Produced by Perpetual Entertainment, the documentary follows the twists and turns of the trial and offers a rare glimpse into Patterson’s world. There are previously unseen moments from court, chilling expert analysis from FBI-trained criminal profiler Kris Illingsworth, and insight into potential motives — including a theory involving religious retribution.

Also featured is investigative journalist Sam Cucchiara, who conducted the now-viral interview with Patterson, and remains the only person to have spoken to her at length.

Then on Tuesday, 15 July at 8.30pm, the spotlight shifts to a New Zealand mystery with Polk: Unanswered Questions. This fourth chapter from the team behind Polk: The Trial of Philip Polkinghorne digs deeper into the death of Pauline Hanna — a case that’s captivated the nation.

Although Polkinghorne was acquitted in September 2024, the questions haven’t stopped. With a Coroner’s inquest looming in August 2026, this latest instalment examines the final hours of Pauline’s life, unpacks lingering doubts, and explores what might still lie hidden beneath the surface.

“These are stories that have fascinated and shocked audiences on both sides of the Tasman,” says Matt Barthow, Warner Bros. Discovery’s Senior Director of Content ANZ. “With so much speculation and media attention, these documentaries offer a deeper look — and maybe even some answers.”

Murder by Mushroom lands on ThreeNow early, from Thursday 10 July, and airs on Three Monday, 14 July at 8.30pm. Polk: Unanswered Questions premieres Tuesday, 15 July at 8.30pm on both Three and ThreeNow.
