Veteran broadcaster Alex Cullen is returning to familiar territory, rejoining the Seven Network to take up a new role across 7NEWS.

Cullen, whose television career began at 7NEWS Perth before progressing to roles in Sydney, Sunrise and Sunday Night, will now take on a mix of presenting and reporting duties, including work on several special projects.

“It’s incredibly exciting to be coming back to Seven. In many ways, it feels like coming home,” Cullen said.

“There are familiar faces here I’ve known and worked with for more than 20 years, and that kind of support from people who really know you means everything. I’m looking forward to reconnecting with audiences and getting back to what I love: telling real stories that matter.”

Seven’s Director of News and Current Affairs, Ray Kuka, welcomed Cullen back, saying: “We’re excited to welcome Alex back into the fold. He’s one of the nicest guys in television – a country boy who grew up with a strong work ethic and still knows a hard day’s work.”

Kuka highlighted Cullen’s versatility as a major asset: “Alex isn’t just a sports presenter; he’s a sharp journalist and a compelling host. He cares about the viewers, his colleagues and his family.”

Now relocating with his family to Melbourne, Cullen joins the network at a time of strong ratings in Victoria. Kuka added: “He will be another critical link in the chain of successful programming coming out of our new home in Melbourne city.”

Details of Cullen’s upcoming projects will be announced in due course, the network said.
