Andrew Barclay has been appointed as the new chair of TVNZ’s board, Minister for Media and Communications Paul Goldsmith has announced.
Goldsmith said Barclay brings more than 25 years of experience in global investment banking and finance.
“His background equips him with the skills to provide continued strong oversight of financial performance and strategic decision-making, which are critical for a commercially focused public broadcaster like TVNZ,” Goldsmith said.
Barclay will take up the role on 3 November, following the retirement of current chair Alastair Carruthers the day before.
Goldsmith also acknowledged Carruthers’ contribution, saying, “I would like to thank Alastair Carruthers for his efforts in chairing the Board since 2023.”
