CNN’s 24/7 live news stream will disappear from HBO Max next month as the network prepares to launch a new streaming platform.
From November 17, CNN Max will no longer be available to US viewers on HBO Max. The change comes ahead of CNN’s new standalone streaming service, set to launch later this year.
While the live news stream is ending, HBO Max subscribers will still be able to access several CNN Original programmes, including Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown, Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy, and The Whole Story with Anderson Cooper.
CNN’s Executive Vice President of Digital Products and Services, Alex MacCallum, said the two-year run on HBO Max provided valuable insights into what viewers wanted from the network.
“CNN has benefitted tremendously from its two years of offering a live 24/7 feed of news to HBO Max customers,” MacCallum said. “We learned from HBO Max’s large base of subscribers what people want and enjoy the most from CNN, and with the launch of our own new streaming subscription offering coming later this fall, we look forward to building off that and growing our audience with this unique, new offering.”
CNN has not yet revealed further details about its new streaming service, including its name or subscription cost
