The Tasmanian election campaign reaches a crucial turning point today, with Premier Jeremy Rockliff and Opposition Leader Dean Winter going head-to-head in the Sky News / Mercury Leaders’ Debate.
The debate, scheduled for 12.30pm AEST, marks the only official face-off between the two leaders ahead of the snap election on Saturday 19 July – just sixteen months after the state’s last trip to the polls.
Moderated by Sky News Australia’s Chief News Anchor Kieran Gilbert, the debate offers voters a final chance to hear directly from the two contenders vying for Tasmania’s top job. It will be live-streamed for subscribers via SkyNews.com.au and themercury.com.au.
Sky News will also deliver extensive coverage on election night with Tasmania Decides: Election Night LIVE from 6.00pm AEST on Saturday. Kieran Gilbert will lead the panel, joined by Political Editor Andrew Clennell, Chief Election Analyst Tom Connell, AM Agenda host Laura Jayes, Assistant Minister for Health and former Tasmanian Labor Leader Rebecca White, Tasmania Liberal Senator Jonathon Duniam, and former Labor Cabinet Minister Graham Richardson.
The coverage continues on Sunday 20 July with Sunday Agenda from 8.00am AEST.
Viewers can stream the debate and election coverage at SkyNews.com.au or by downloading the Sky News Australia app.
