Sky customers will notice several channel changes from 2 December 2025 as the broadcaster refreshes its entertainment lineup.

From 6am that day, Sky will introduce new channels designed to make it easier for viewers to find kids, comedy and music programming. The changes affect several long-standing networks including Nickelodeon, Nick Jr, Cartoon Network, Comedy Central and MTV.

Kids entertainment
Channel 101 will become Sky Kids, replacing Nickelodeon. The new channel will feature a mix of content from Nickelodeon (currently Channel 101), Cartoon Network (Channel 102) and Nick Jr (Channel 104), alongside other children’s programming.

As part of the reshuffle, the Cartoon Network and Nick Jr channels will stop broadcasting from midnight on 2 December. Sky says favourites like SpongeBob SquarePants, Paw Patrol and The Loud House will remain available, along with new seasons of Blaze and the Monster Machines and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Comedy programming
At the same time, Comedy Central (Channel 11) will become Sky Comedy. The new channel will continue to feature shows such as Key & Peele, Frasier and Arrested Development, and will also add Schitt’s Creek, the final season of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and South Park — exclusive to Sky.

Music channels
From 6am, the MTV channels will also be replaced. MTV Hits (Channel 22) will make way for Juice TV, which moves to Channel 25 and focuses on current hits. Meanwhile, MTV 80s (Channel 123) will be replaced by J2 on Channel 26, featuring nostalgic favourites.

Sky says the updates follow a review of its entertainment offering and aim to improve what’s available through Sky Starter. According to the company, most of the shows from channels being retired — such as Nickelodeon, Nick Jr and Comedy Central — will continue to be available either on the new Sky-branded channels or On Demand through the HBO Max Hub.

Sky also confirmed that MTV Hits and MTV 80s will no longer be available in New Zealand as linear channels, with Kiwi brand Juice TV returning to take their place.
